Celebrating ‘Star Wars’ Day May The 4th On The Outer Banks [Video / Photo Gallery]

Posted By on May 5, 2017

The Empire descended on the Outer Banks once again yesterday for a special Star Wars Day charity event to benefit Surfing For Autism at Barefoot Bernie’s in Kitty Hawk on May The 4th.

In recent years, May 4 (#MayThe4thBeWithYou) has become an unofficial day of celebration for Star Wars fans around the galaxy, known as “Star Wars Day”.

Local members of the 501st Legion Carolina Garrison Star Wars cosplay group were at Thursday’s event, in costume as various characters from the Star Wars movies and available for photos.

Surfing For Autism is an Autism Spectrum Disorder awareness event each summer on the Outer Banks, where each child is provided two surfers and a skilled therapist or teacher to introduce them to paddling, surfing, and a new way to have fun in the sun.
