Posted By on March 6, 2017

The annual OBX Arts and Craft Festival returns to the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk in September.

It’s that time of year again for one of the Outer Banks’ most memorable art shows. Featuring many popular area artists, the OBX Arts & Craft Festival is always a fun and stimulating way to spend the day. Stop by the at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk (oceanfront at milepost 1.5 on the Beach Road) where there is free parking and free admission to the show. You are sure to be inspired as you weave your way through spectacular artwork and discover two local charities that are doing great things for the Outer Banks.

The festival takes place on Wednesday and Thursday, September 6 and 7 from 10 am to 5 pm each day. On display will be a delightful variety of creations from 25 Outer Banks artists whose specialties include painting, pottery, jewelry, photography, woodwork, glasswork, fiber and textile arts, collage, metalwork and more. For a quick bite, check out the Hilton’s lobby cafe, Garden Grille and Bar, and complete your afternoon by purchasing original, handmade pieces from the artists onsite.

Participating artists include Charlotte and Jerry Alexander, Rosanne Arndt, Bobbie Beckley, Pembroke Bryant, Brenda Buciorelli, E.M. Corsa, Carolina Coto, Christina Deneka, Susan Estrella, Beth Fleishaker, Rosanna Gusler, Randy Hodges, Anne Jacobson, Martha Johnson, Stephanie Kiker, Nancy and David Laird, Pete Lewando, Gordon Lewis, Vicky Lowe, James Melvin, Margaret Miller, Kim Mosher, Megan Rubino, Cyndi Sarfan and Patty Zukerowski.

As is part of the tradition of the show, you can gather information about two local charities, N.E.S.T. and the Dare Literacy Council. N.E.S.T. (Network for Endangered Sea Turtles) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of the habitats and migration routes of sea turtles and other marine animals on the Outer Banks.

The Dare Literacy Council (DLC) is an all volunteer non-profit that offers free tutoring services to adults who wish to learn to read, improve math and reading skills, learn English as a Second Language or get their GED. The DLC trains volunteer tutors who work one-on-one or in a class situation to help adults needing literacy services. The DLC holds two book sale fundraisers each year and will be accepting donations of new or used books (in good condition) at their booth.

The participating artists generously donate a portion of their entrance fees to help support these fine charities. Show visitors are encouraged to volunteer with and/or donate to these important organizations.

The OBX Arts and Craft Festival is happening September 6 and 7, from 10am to 5pm each day at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk.

Admission to the show is free on both days and there is plenty of free parking.
