Weekend Movie Update – Jan. 6, 2017: Back to the ‘Underworld’
Our favorite vampire death dealer is back in theaters this week, along with a true drama and a Monster story, while Rogue One lands at The Pioneer.

Leading this week’s new releases is the latest sequel in the popular vampires vs. werewolves franchise, as Kate Beckinsale is back as Selene in Underworld: Blood Wars (rated R), opening on Friday at R/C Theatres KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills, showing in both 3D and 2D formats.

A monster of another kinds takes center stage in the fantasy drama A Monster Calls (rated PG13), based on the award-winning children’s book of the same name and starring Felicity Jones and Sigourney Weaver, starting Friday at R/C Theatres KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills, with a preview screening tonight (Thursday) at 7:20pm .

Also new to local theaters this week, Hidden Figures (rated PG) is the incredible untold story of three brilliant African-American women who worked at NASA and who served as the brains behind the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, starting Friday at R/C Theatres KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills, with preview screenings tonight (Thursday) at 5 and 7:10pm.

Finally, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (rated PG13), comes to the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, playing for two weeks (Jan. 6-19).
