Weekend Movie Update – Dec. 15, 2016: ‘Star Wars’ Goes ‘Rogue’

Darth Vader returns to theaters this weekend in Rogue One, a new Star Wars Story and the year’s most anticipated movie.

Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of December 15, 2016!

Our friends over at Earth 383 Comics & Games are once again hosting an Outer Banks movie premiere party for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story this Thursday at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills.

Earth 383 has purchased tickets to tomorrow’s preview night premiere of Rogue One, and if you purchase one of their limited edition art prints by Luis Coronado at either of their Kill Devil Hills or Elizabeth City locations, your ticket to the premiere is included. There will only be a limited amount of prints available between the two shops, so don’t wait to get yours.

Tickets are also currently available online and at the box office at R/C Theatres KDH Movies 10.

Prior to the premiere screening, Earth 383 is hosting a pre-movie party on Thursday, Dec. 15 starting at 4:30pm, featuring an exhibit of local art inspired by Rogue One on display in the movie theater lobby for all to view, as well as special appearances by the local members of the 501st Legion Carolina Garrison Star Wars cosplay group, who will be in full costume as characters from the films and available for photo ops.

Please note that no lightsabers, blasters, masks, or helmets will be allowed in the theater to view the movie.

Showtimes this Thursday are at 7pm (in standard 2D format) and at 7:10pm in 3D.

Rogue One flashes back to a time period in the mythology that takes place after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and just before the events of the very first Star Wars movie, Episode IV: A New Hope.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Monsters), telling the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.

The film stars Academy Award nominee Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything, The Amazing Spider-Man 2); Diego Luna (Milk, Killing Them Softly); Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline); Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Blade II); Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly, Devils on the Doorstep); Forest Whitaker (The Butler, The Last King of Scotland); Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Hannibal); Alan Tudyk (Con Man, Trumbo); and Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler, The Night Of).
