Dare Arts Council’s Emerald Elegance Gala Channels Creativity

Posted By on September 29, 2016

You are invited to channel your inner creativity on Saturday, October 22 at the Dare County Arts Council’s Emerald Elegance Gala at Pirate’s Cove Pavilion in Manteo from 7pm to 12am.

Delectable cuisine by Black Pelican Catering, a silent auction full of art and exclusive packages from local businesses, live music by The Finns of Greensboro, NC and Outer Banks favorite Chez Says, and breathtaking décor will come together to create an unforgettable night for Gala guests.

“Emeralds are known for activating creativity and bringing focus to one’s life’s work. This year’s Gala décor will encourage guests to open their minds and travel into a world of imagination where their creativity will soar,” said owner of Holiday House Events Nancy Harvey. “This event brings all of our artists together to showcase their work and mingle with our talented community while supporting a great organization.”

A five section, 30 foot long, and 60 foot wide masterpiece designed and constructed by Nancy Harvey and her Holiday House Events team of artists, craftsmen and set designers as well as artist Carol Willett will be the centerpiece of this enchanting evening.

“This paper and cloth mache sculpture fires the imagination about the art of the possible. It displays six kinds of paint, gold edging and glitter. Its captivating eyes are lit from within, as are light domes along its snout,” said creator Carol Willett. “Like the Arts Council and the arts community, she brings together many different elements- sculpting, painting, fabric art, and welding. She is up for auction at the Gala and is looking for a home. Proceeds go to DCAC programming.”

The Emerald Elegance Gala is Dare County Arts Council’s annual fundraiser, which enables the development of programs, like Power of Art. The fundamental principal of Power of Art is to level the playing field for those with disabilities and difficulties with self-expression by giving them the opportunity to create and make critical artistic decisions through unique programs and events.

Tickets are $125 per person and are available at Dare County Arts Council in downtown Manteo and online at brownpapertickets.com. Guests are also able to reserve tables of eight for $1,500. Seating is limited, so be sure to reserve your tickets in advance.

SAGA Construction & Development returns as the Gala’s Michelangelo Presenting Sponsor for the second consecutive year. Emerald Elegance’s Degas Sponsors are Outer Banks Blue and Metro Rentals. TowneBank, Rose, Harrison & Gilreath, P.C. and PNC Bank are the Gala’s Warhol Sponsors.
