Weekend Movie Update – Aug. 5, 2016: ‘Suicide Squad’ Goals
The worst heroes ever team up in theaters this week, while a former Lex Luthor is reduced a pussy cat.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of August 5, 2016!
The third film in Warner Bros. Pictures’ newly established DC Extended (movie) Universe, following 2013’s Man of Steel and this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it’s time to shine a spotlight of some of DC Comics’ most infamous bad guys in Suicide Squad (rated PG13).
The film officially opens on Friday, playing locally at both RC Theatres in Kill Devil Hills and at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, with preview screenings set for tonight (Thursday) at 6:45 and 9:45pm at RC Theatres.
Earth 383 Comics & Games will also be hosting a pre-screening art show in the lobby at RC Theatres tonight at 5pm.
Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.
Suicide Squad stars Jared Leto as Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, and Ben Affleck resuming his cape and cowl from Dawn of Justice as Batman.

Also new this week, Kevin Spacey, who played iconic DC villain Lex Luthor in Superman Returns, lends is voice to play a father who his magically transformed into a talking cat in the new family comedy Nine Lives (rated PG), which also stars the new Batman’s real life ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
