‘American Horror Story’ Season 6 To Feature The Lost Colony?
Earlier today, TMZ published the first photos from the set of the upcoming Season 6 of the hit FX anthology series American Horror Story, which strongly suggests that the new season will in some way feature the story of The Lost Colony!
The photos of the set where the show is currently film in California show what appears to be a colonial village setting, and what is definitely a tree with the word “CROATOAN” carved into it, and of course anyone who has seen the locally produced play The Lost Colony that tells the trues story of the first English colonists to land in what would become America, can tell you that was the word left on a real life tree after the entire colony mysteriously vanished.
As told on the site of where it actually happened, at Waterside Theatre in Fort Raleigh on Roanoke Island, The Lost Colony is the story of America’s first unsolved mystery, the original urban legend, and so it is not entirely shocking that a series that often twists real historic events and characters into its plot lines would eventually find itself at the source of it all, which also happens to be here on the Outer Banks.
American Horror Story is an anthology series that changes themes and story lines, and often time periods, which each season, always taking on a different but very basic “horror story”, starting with a haunted house in Season 1 and proceeding through an Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, and Hotel in subsequent seasons.
The subject of Season 6 has been shrouded in mystery and yet to be revealed, as the six (get it?) creepy teasers released last week offer only vague hints at best, but these photos from the set may have finally let the cat out of the bag. Of course, we have no idea if the Lost Colony will play into the entire season or just a few scenes in a certain episode, but it is almost certain that the local legend will be featured in some way.
American Horror Story Season 6 premieres at 10pm on Sept. 14 on FX.
