Outer Banks Halloween Film Festival Now Taking Submissions!

Posted By on July 28, 2016

Independent film submissions of all genres are now being accepted for the inaugural Halloween International Film Festival, presented by Halloween Daily News and OBX Entertainment over three days this October in Kill Devil Hills.

In addition to the Official Selections chosen from among the entries in the short film and feature film categories, to be screened in competition during the Festival, each night will conclude with a Featured Selection screening of special showcased independent movies that celebrate the theme and mission of the event.

This year’s Featured Selections will be revealed in the coming weeks, and the official submission period for films to be entered into the competition, which opened on June 1, will end on the Sept. 1 final deadline.

You can get the complete rules for the festival and instructions on how to submit your film here, or you can also now submit films digitally using the popular independent film festival submissions platform FilmFreeway!

The first Halloween International Film Festival will take place on the Outer Banks, North Carolina during Halloween Weekend, October 27-29, 2016, to be followed by the 3rd Annual Outer Banks Halloween Parade of Costumes on Sunday, October 30.

All Festival film screenings will be shown at RC Theatres Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills. Information on how to purchase tickets in advance will be announced in the coming weeks.

Official accommodations will be available at a special discounted rate for Film Festival attendees at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk and the Ramada Plaza in Kill Devil Hills, both located on the beautiful Outer Banks oceanfront with scenic ocean view rooms and free public beach access, just minutes from the host venue RC Theatres.

The mission of the Halloween International Film Festival is to promote the artistry of independent films made in the spirit of creativity, support the future of cinema by providing exposure for talented visionary filmmakers, and celebrate a collective passion for Halloween.

Known as the “land of beginnings”, the Outer Banks of North Carolina is the site of America’s first urban legend, The Lost Colony of Roanoke Island, the true story of the first English colonists to land in the new world only to mysteriously vanish without explanation in 1587.

The Outer Banks is also where the infamous pirate Blackbeard was killed and reportedly still haunts the small, isolated island of Ocracoke; and it is where the Wright Brothers launched mankind toward the stars with the first powered flight in 1903, in what is now the town of Kill Devil Hills.

Sponsors for this event include Dare County Arts Council and Halloween Daily News.
