Get Your Reggae On With Scholars Word At Kelly’s, Nags Head [Concert Preview]
You can get your reggae on with Scholars Word live in concert at Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern in Nags Head this month.
Scholars Word is a reggae/dub band based out of Florida. Never one to compromise the sound or message of reggae, Scholars Word strives to remain true to the art, while maintaining their original style and letting their different musical influences shine through.
Homegrown reggae from the heart, Scholars Word takes everything good about reggae and weaves it together in a new way, staying true to the roots of the music without sounding cliché or imitative. Their steady, dub pumping bass lines and energetic rhythms combine with a well-proportioned mix of guitar melodies, saxophone jams, and upbeat keyboard effects to produce a completely genuine and electrifying reggae sound.
Pair that with lead singer Bryce Creighton’s clear, soothing voice, which captivates on tracks like “Good Feelin’” and “Searchin'”, and you’ve got yourself a band that sounds remarkable from start to finish. And the lyrics of each song provide enlightened social commentary and life lessons that will make you think about the kind of positive impact you can make on the people around you.
Scholars Word will be live in concert at Kelly’s in Nags Head for two nights, this Wednesday, July 27, and Thursday, July 28.
Showtime is 10pm both nights, and there will be a cover charge for admission at the door.
You can hear the single “Searchin'” by Scholars Word in the player below!
