Get Caught In ‘Charlotte’s Web’ At Roanoke Island Festival Park
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s University Theatre brings Charlotte’s Web to Roanoke Island Festival Park this month in family friendly children’s show.
The Children’s Literature Association named this “the best American children’s book of the past two hundred years,” and Joseph Robinette, working with the advice of E.B. White, has created a play that captures this work in a thrilling theatrical performance.
All the enchanting characters are here: Wilber, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, the girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zukerman family; the Arables and most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer.”
Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the “miracle” of her web in which she writes, “some pig.” It’s the beginning of a victorious campaign which ultimately ends with the now- safe Wilber doing what is most important to Charlotte.
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s University Theatre presents Charlotte’s Web live on stage in the Indoor Theatre at Roanoke Island Festival Park on Wednesday, July 13; Thursday, July 14; and Friday, July 15 at 10:30am each morning.
Tickets are $5 for ages 3 and up, and ages 2 and under are free, and they can be purchased in advance at Ticket Sales office at Festival Park or on the day of the event.
Children’s shows sponsored, in part, by Friends of Elizabeth II and the William and JoAnn Small Family Fund and the Outer Banks Community Foundation.
