Killer Dunes July 4th Fun Run to Support Friends of Jockey’s Ridge
Runners are invited to start off their Independence Day this Monday, July 4 by completing a two-mile course on the tallest natural sand dune in the Eastern United States at Jockey’s Ridge State Park in Nags Head this month.
Attracting runners looking for a “unique” challenge, and drawing a very competitive field, participants are also welcome to walk the course instead (though it’s still not “just a walk in the park”).
A quarter-mile Fun Run will follow at 9:15am.
Presented by the Outer Banks Running Club, the race proceeds will benefit Friends of Jockey’s Ridge, a local non-profit dedicated to preserving & enhancing Jockey’s Ridge State Park. The event willl be timed by Mettle Events and awards will be presented to all Finishers, the Top 3 Males and Top 3 Females overall, and to the top 3 finishers in each Age Group. Post-race refreshments available for all participants.
Online registration is open until this Saturday, July 2 at 10am. You can register online here.
On-site registration may be available at packet pick-up on Sunday, July 3 from 3 to 6pm at Jockey’s Ridge State Park (Milepost 12; Highway 158) and on Race Day on Monday, July 4, from 7:15am to 8am if the event is not sold out.
