The 19th Annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show presented by Mollie A. Fearing & Associates will open at the Dare County Arts Council (DCAC) Gallery in downtown Manteo on Sunday, May 1

The opening reception will be held May 1, from 2 to 4pm at the DCAC Gallery, and will feature southern themed heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks and desserts.

The show is open to Dare County Arts Council members and residents of Dare County age 18 and over. Awards include Best in Show, Excellence Awards and Honorable Mentions, and a People’s Choice Award.

Executive Director of Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft Marlene True will be judging this year’s show. She is a metalsmith whose work is in various collections throughout the US. Marlene earned her MFA at East Carolina University and her BFA at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Sharing her passion for metalsmithing, she teaches workshops all over the world.

“I know Eastern North Carolina is home to many talented artists. I see them in our studios and elsewhere, passionately creating, learning and mastering their media. I encourage all to submit their work to the Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show and I am eager to see their work,” said True.

The show is held in memory of Mollie A. Fearing, one of the founders of the Dare County Arts Council, and features an eclectic mix of artwork.

Artists wishing to participate in this year’s exhibition can find a prospectus online at darearts.org and at the DCAC Gallery. Entries can be dropped off April 27 and 28 between 10am and 5pm at the DCAC Gallery.

The show will remain on display at the DCAC Gallery through Tuesday, May 31.

The Dare County Arts Council thanks Founding Sponsor Mollie A. Fearing & Associates, Presenting Sponsor Zillie’s Island Pantry and Best in Show award Sponsor Lucky 12 Tavern for supporting the show.
