Taste of the Beach Spotlight: Jolly Roger Restaurant

Posted By on March 11, 2016

The 2016 Outer Banks Taste of the Beach is just around the corner, with dozens of events and delicious specials on the menu at numerous participating local restaurants for four days, March 17-20, and today we are spotlighting the specials and events happening at Jolly Roger Restaurant

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and kickoff Taste of the Beach on Thursday, March 17, Jolly Roger will be offering a traditional Irish dinner, featuring corned beef and cabbage, with lunch portions for just $8.95 and dinner entrees for $12.95.

BBQ and Wings Showdown

Barbecue in North Carolina, especially the Outer Banks, is a big deal. In fact there is a “BBQ trail” going through North Carolina where the NC BBQ Association lists the best of the best, ending of course here on the Outer Banks, where the area’s best local wings will square off in this new competition, featuring ribs, chicken wings, shredded pulled pork, and more.

The event is happening on Friday, March 18, from 12 to 3pm at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head, with the Jolly Roger among the local restaurants competing. Ticket prices $22 for adults ages 15 and up, $10 for ages 7-14, and free for ages 6 and under.

Chowder Cookoff

Nothing beats a cup of homemade chowder, and on Saturday, March 19, the place to be is the 8th Annual Outer Banks Chowder Cookoff at Coastal Provisions in Southern Shores from 12 to 2:30pm. With a $21.25 ticket, you can sample dozens of the area’s best and most original chowders. As one of the oldest and most established Outer Banks restaurants Jolly Roger brings years of seasoning secrets to this event.

Grand Tasting

You can also sample some of the best of what the Jolly Roger offers at the finale event of Taste of the Beach, the annual Chefs Grand Tasting and Bartenders Bubbly Bash, on Sunday, March 20, from 1 to 4pm at Port O’ Call Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills, where the most prestigious area chefs will judge the Outer Banks’ best dishes. Tickets to this event are $50.

Tickets may be available at the door, but all of these events will fill up quickly so pre-ordering online here is encouraged.
