Outer Banks Community Quilt Show Returns to Roanoke Island Festival Park
The Outer Banks Community Quilt Show returns to Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo this March.
Vintage and antique quilts of all sizes will be on display.
The show will include quilts made, or owned by quilters from the area, and by those with close ties to the Outer Banks.
A wide range of quilting techniques including quilting, embroidery, applique’, and other needlework and embellishments will be showcased.
Have quilting questions? Knowledgeable quilters will be available to answer questions and describe the featured quilts.
In addition, “Fun Little Quilts” can be seen in the Art Gallery lobby area, all made by the quilting community. The fabric line of these unique quilts is” Dream Blossom”. This special exhibit is designed for the viewer to enjoy the innovation and imagination of the quilting artist.
The Outer Banks Community Quilt Show will open on Friday, March 4, with an opening reception from 6 to 8pm in the Art Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo.
The exhibit will run March 5-19, open Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm (exhibit closed Sundays).
Both events are free and open to the public.
Additional highlights of the exhibit include a Vendor Day on Saturday, March 12, from 10am until 4pm. Come join local crafts- and tradespeople offering quilting and sewing-related items for sale, including finished items such as handbags and totes. This is a great opportunity to interact with quilt vendors and quilt makers.
Don’t miss the annual Trunk Show on Monday, March 14, beginning at 1pm. Local quilters will display their current work, both completed and in progress, and share their quilt’s stories. This event is also free and open to the public.
