To you help decide how best to use your time (and stomach space), we have compiled a list of the top five one-time-only events that you don’t want to miss, which you can check out below!
Kelly’s Traditional St. Patty’s Day Dinner – Thursday, March 17, 5-9pm, Kelly’s
Nobody does St. Patrick’s Day like Kelly’s Restaurant, the best place for a fine celebration of all things Irish, known for their excellent food and service, and of course their inherent “Irish-ness”. Celebrate your own Irish heritage with a special presentation of traditional Irish foods.
Corned beef and cabbage with roasted root vegetables & potatoes. Irish soda bread and Kelly’s famous sweet potato biscuits. A generous plate is only $20. Bring your whole crew to celebrate on St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17th.
Tickets may be available at the door, but this evening will fill up quickly so pre-ordering here is encouraged.
BBQ and Wings Showdown – Friday, March 18, 12-3pm, Soundside Event Site
Enjoy tasting and voting for your favorite Outer Banks BBQ and Wings from 15 of the areas best eateries, from traditional pulled pork and tender fall-off-the-bone ribs to delicious saucy hot chicken wings. There is something for every carnivore at this 4th annual event.
Presented to you with the support of Joe lamb Jr. Realty and the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, the event is newly located at The Soundside Event Site in Nags Head, which will provide a great outdoor (tented) park-like experience for up to 750 attendees and allow onsite parking.
Jonny Waters & Company will keep your feet tapping with lyrically driven original tunes mixed with classic covers.
Chowder Cookoff – Saturday, March 19, 12-2:30pm, Coastal Provisions
Always one of the biggest and most popular events of the weekend, this will be the 9th Chowder Cookoff hosted at Coastal Provisions and graciously sponsored this year by Southern Shores Realty! Guests will enjoy chowders from over a dozen Outer Banks area restaurants to see who’s chowder reigns supreme! There will be live music and other fun stuff too.
Local oyster farmers Bill & Ryan Belter will also be on hand steaming up their Hatteras Salts Oysters in addition to Costal Provisions Oyster Bar menu offerings.
Admission includes two beverage tickets (additional tickets available to purchase). A free Chowder T-shirt will also be included for the first 300 tickets purchased in advance. Once those tickets are gone, they are truly gone and you must purchase the ticket without T-shirt included.
Micro-Micro Beer Fest – Saturday, March 19, 2-4pm, Outer Banks Brewing Station
Smaller is better! Enjoy some outside time in our beer garden while trying our innovative house beers. Mingle with our brewers for some first-hand knowledge of our beers, the brewing process, history of the Outer Banks Brewing Station, and other random and useful facts.
Grand Tasting – Sunday, March 20, 1-4pm, Port O’ Call
The Sysco Foods Taste of the Beach Chefs Grand Tasting & Bartenders Bubbly Bash on Sunday, March 20th, will be the hottest ticket in town with about 20 area restaurants and beverage vendors serving a sampling of original hand prepared foods, fine wines, and beers.
New for 2016, the Grand Tasting will feature a bartender Bubbly Cocktail Competition, where you can sample creative sparkling wine cocktails and “tip” for your favorite. These tip proceeds will go directly to the Beach Food Pantry. Guests of the Grand tasting will even receive a complementary champagne flute to commemorate their experience.
Restaurants will be competing for the 7th Annual TOB’y Awards; Best Booth Presentation, Best In Show, and the two top awards, the Chef’s Award and the coveted People’s Choice Award.
