Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of Jan. 8, 2016!
The historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo is showing The Force Awakens through January 14. Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (rated PG13) is directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, and features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

They join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker. The film is being produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk, and John Williams returns as the composer.

Leonardo Dicaprio (Titanic) attempts to defy death during the ultimate wilderness trip in the drama The Revenant (rated R), opening Friday at R/C KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills, with a preview screening on Thursday at 7pm.

Also new this week, the all-star drama The Big Short (rated R) is based on the true story of four outsiders the coming global collapse of the economy made a bold investment that lead them into the dark underbelly of modern banking, opening Friday at R/C KDH Movies 10 Kill Devil Hills.
