Outer Banks Weekend Movie Update – Dec. 25, 2015: Daddys Come ‘Home’

While The Force Awakens continues its dominance locally and around the world, the Star Wars sequel is joined in theaters this weekend by Daddy’s Home, Concussion, Joy, and Point Break.

Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of Dec. 25, 2015!

The historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo is showing The Force Awakens through January 14. Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (rated PG13) is directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, and features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

They join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker. The film is being produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk, and John Williams returns as the composer.

Leading this week’s new releases is the dad vs. stepdad comedy Daddy’s Home (rated PG13), opening Friday at R/C KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills, with a preview show tonight (Thursday) at 5 and 7:15pm.

Also new this week, Will Smith stars in the drama Concussion (rated PG13), a true story set in the world pro NFL football, opening Friday at R/C KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.

Jennifer Lawrence puts down her arrows for the comedy drama Joy (rated PG13), for which the actress is again earning rave reviews and lots of Oscar buzz, also opening Friday at R/C KDH Movies 10.

Of all the unnecessary remakes this may be the most unnecessary, but the new Point Break (rated PG13) opens on Christmas Day in Kill Devil Hills, promising more extreme action to the cult classic original film.
