‘Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks’ Captains Appearing At Seafood Festival
The local stars of the hit National Geographic Channel series Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks will be at the upcoming 3rd Annual Outer Banks Seafood Festival, with captains Britton Shackelford of the Doghouse, Tami Gray of the Reel Action, Charlie Griffin of the Reels of Fortune, and this years winner Greg Mayer of the Fishin’ Frenzy scheduled to be in attendance at the popular event this October in Nags Head.
A captain’s tent will be located close to the Outer Banks Catch tent, which is one of the larger main attraction tents at the Festival. Organizers are planning for two separate autograph signing sessions: 1:30-2:30 p.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Additionally, Captains Griffin and Gray will be participating throughout the day in activities within the Outer Banks Catch tent.
Part of the mission for the annual Festival is to celebrate the Outer Banks’ local fishermen and seafood heritage, and it does this with educational programs, exhibits, and the opportunity for Festival attendees to interact with working watermen and learn about the challenges they face in bringing fresh seafood to market.
“While the Outer Banks Seafood Festival is known for great food, music and fun, to others it means much more than that,” said Chamber President and CEO Karen Brown. “It is a celebration of our Commercial Fishing heritage and a focus on challenges such as imported seafood and Oregon Inlet. The show Wicked Tuna highlights what are our commercial fishermen are up against and helps us spread a deeper message about the struggles and accomplishments of this industry.”
The 2015 Outer Banks Seafood Festival is once again being presented by TowneBank and the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.
The Saturday, October 17th Festival will be held from 10:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at The Soundside event site located near milepost 16 in Nags Head.
