Theatre of Dare Presenting Thriller ‘Wait Until Dark’
Theatre of Dare will kick off their 25th anniversary year, as well as the Outer Banks Halloween season, in October with the classic thriller Wait Until Dark.
Written by Frederick Knott, Wait Until Dark is the story of Susy Hendrix, a recently blinded housewife who unwittingly possesses a doll filled with illicit drugs. Harry Roat, a brutal and sophisticated criminal, coerces two small-time thugs into helping him con Susy into giving up the doll.
A battle of wits ensues as Susy and the young girl upstairs launch a counterplot against the thieves. The drama plays on the themes of darkness and light as Susy navigates through her sightless world, and the crooks signal each other with light through the Venetian blinds.
The cast for the local production includes:
Mike Talman – Brendan Medlin
Sgt. Carlino – Daniel Ziegler
Harry Roat, Jr. – Terry Snead
Susy Hendrix – Kat Morgan
Sam Hendrix – Tim Hass
Gloria – Abbie Bender
Policeman – Mike Mazza
Theatre of Dare will present Wait Until Dark at the COA (College of the Albemarle) Auditorium in Manteo on two consecutive weekends, October 2-4 and 9-11, with Friday and Saturday night showtimes at 7:30pm and Sunday matinee performances at 2pm.
