Celebrating ‘Star Wars’ Force Friday on the Outer Banks [Video / Photo Gallery]

There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it?

Hundreds of new products from the highly anticipated upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens officially went on sale around the world this morning, at exactly 12:01am on Friday, Sept. 4, which was fittingly named “Force Friday”.

Locally, the Walmart store in Kitty Hawk was wide open at midnight last night, and OBX Entertainment was there, along with local fan Jason Hill of the 501st Legion Carolina Garrison, who came in costume as an Imperial officer, with his son Justin as a Jawa.

A modest crowd of at least a dozen or so other dedicated fans flocked to the store to snatch up the new action figures and collectibles hitting the market for the first time, though the manager on duty told us that many more products were yet to be unveiled but would be out by this Saturday (tomorrow), when the 501st Legion is expected to be in attendance once again.

You can watch a little bit of our video from last night’s excitement in the player below, but be sure to check back, as you will be able to watch our official “unboxing” of our own new toys that we purchased in a separate video to be posted later today, as well as an out of this world photo gallery featuring many of the new products!

(This post will be updated throughout the day as new related photos and videos are added.)

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open in theaters on December 18.
