Octopus Discovered At Jennette’s Pier, Nags Head
A group of youngsters (pictured below) found a baby octopus (Octopus vulgaris) attached to a horseshoe crab on the beach at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head on Wednesday afternoon.
They immediately brought the animal up to the pier house in a red sand bucket and steps were taken to get it safely transported it to the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island.
Once at the Aquarium, the octopus, with its large black eyes, immediately found a new home by slipping into this shell. It’s possible the octopus will go on display there in the future.
