‘Let Freedom Ring’ Patriotic Outer Banks Concert Announced

Posted By on June 23, 2015

Outer Banks Presbyterian Church will hold their 8th Annual “Let Freedom Ring” musical presentation on Sunday, July 5

Due to high demands in seating, the concert will be held in two presentations.  The First Presentation will begin at 4:00 pm and the Second Presentation will be at 7:00 pm.

Featured will be the sanctuary choir, The Jubilate Handbell Ringers, guest singers, and musicians.  Musical Director, Jason Evans, will be coordinating all these groups with Nonie Booth conducting the choir.

The program will begin with a prelude of “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory” featuring the Jubilate Handbells, Organ and Double Piano. Following the prelude, there will be several congregational hymns, the presentation of colors by the American Legion Fort Raleigh Post 26 Color Guard, The Pledge of Allegiance and The Star Spangled Banner as well as other patriotic anthems.

The second half of the program will feature a musical drama featuring the Sanctuary Choir, The OBPC Youth Group, and guest soloists.  The drama is based on the story told by Bobby Gentry, Roberta Graves and Genevieve Olinger about a granddaughter discovering the true meaning of the Fourth of July, following the death of her own father at war,  through the eyes of her mother and grandfather.  During the drama there will be a parade, the recognition of the Armed Forces as well as many patriotic anthems.

The final portion of the program, We Honor Those Who Serve and have Served,  is designed to recognize all who have served our country and a presentation of a small token of our appreciation and will incorporate the well-loved patriotic song by Lee Greenwood, God Bless the U.S.A.

The program will close with Doxology/We Shall Overcome/Lean on Me, a medley of songs.  A host of singers and musicians will join with the choir of OBPC in making this an evening to remember!

The musicians will include Steve Blackstock, organist; Jason Evans, pianist; David Hopson, drummer; Clint McClanahan, bassist.  Our featured guest soloist will be Tommy Williamson from Virginia Beach, VA, who is a professional concert artist with an impressive career, as well as Pamela Tanner, Billy Tanner, Lauren Taylor, and Lew Gregory.

The community is cordially invited to attend.  A nursery will be provided on site during each presentation.

Outer Banks Presbyterian is located at 907 S. Croatan Highway in Kill Devil Hills at Milepost 8.5.  There is no charge for admission; however, a freewill love offering will be accepted.  For further information, please call 441-5897 or visit the church’s website at www.outerbankspresbyterian.org
