Spring Wildlife Art Expo Opening Reception Announced
The Opening Reception for the Spring Wildlife Art Expo is scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2015 from 5 – 8 PM at the National Wildlife Refuges Visitor Center on Roanoke Island. The reception is free, and the public is invited.
Several times each year, the National Wildlife Refuges Visitor Center on Roanoke Island hosts an art exhibit featuring artwork focused on the wildlife and wildlands of eastern North Carolina. “These Art Expos are a great example of partnership between a federal agency and the local community. Everyone benefits. The Refuge’s main goal is to attract a new sets of people to our facility, so we can show them who we are and what we do. And, we’re excited to be able to provide a means to economically benefit some of our local artists.” said Visitor Services Manager Bonnie Strawser. “We’ve been hosting these art shows for almost two years. The artists have been so appreciative… and, so has the visiting public! So, it’s definitely a win-win arrangement.”
This year’s Expo opening dates are May 8th, August 14th and November 13th. The receptions, Art Expos, and Visitor Center are free and open to the public. Artwork will be exhibited in the 100-seat auditorium of the Visitor Center.

For the Wildlife and Wildlands Art Expos, all artwork must be habitat or wildlife themed, two-dimensional in nature, and ready-to-hang.
