Dare County Arts Council will host the third annual Rock The Cape festival at Koru Village in Avon on Saturday May 30th.  For the second consecutive year, the festival is presented by PNC Bank.

The day begins with the Rock The Cape Art Exposition, a free art event beginning at 11am and running until 4pm on the Koru Village campus near Pangea Restaurant.  In the evening, Rock The Cape will move to the Beach Klub at Koru Village for a ticketed concert, featuring Big Daddy Love from Sparta, NC and local favorites The Hound Dogs Family Band.

Rock The Cape is a festival to benefit the Dare County Arts Council. The fundraiser will celebrate the creative community of Hatteras Island with music, live art demonstrations, hands-on crafts and activities for children.  Dozens of local artists, musicians and businesses will be part
of this year’s event.

With support from the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, Rock The Cape has become an annual event to kick off the summer season on Hatteras Island.  “DCAC is thrilled that so many local artists and creative business owners have joined together to make Rock The Cape bigger and better than ever,” said DCAC President Kip Tabb.

Hatteras Island artists, galleries, businesses and civic organizations wishing to participate in the festival are invited to contact Dare County Arts Council via email to [email protected] to reserve their space.

“We welcome artists, art enthusiasts and performers of all types to help us celebrate Hatteras Island as a thriving arts community,” said Koru Village owner Joe Thompson.

Tickets for the Rock The Cape concert are $12 in advance and $18 at the door.

The Art Exposition during the day is free and open to the public.

Tickets are available now online here and will be available beginning April 27th at Koru Village in Avon, Dare County Arts Council in Manteo and Cloud Nine Gallery in Nags Head.

Additional ticket outlets will be announced at a later date.

Rock The Cape is made possible through an event grant by the Outer Banks Visitor’s Bureau.  In addition to presenting sponsor PNC Bank, Resort Realty is among the many business sponsors who support the Hatteras Island creative community through Rock The Cape.
