National Park Service Offers Free Nature Programs For Preschoolers

Participants in the National Park Service Outer Banks Group’s Preschool Young Naturalist Program recently designed their own walking sticks (pictured below) before heading out on the nature trail behind the National Wildlife Refuges Visitor Center on Roanoke Island. 

The program meets year-round every Friday from 10 to 11am and is free.

When you’re on Roanoke Island, be sure to visit the free National Wildlife Refuges Visitor Center, located at 100 Conservation Way, open year ’round  Monday through Saturday from 9am to 4pm and on Sundays from noon to 4pm.

The Visitor Center is filled with exhibits, interactive displays, an art show, gift shop and a small movie theater. 

Alligator River and Pea Island National Wildlife Refuges are open daylight hours year-round.
