Nature Conservancy Hosting Coastal Resilience Open House
The Outer Banks office of The Nature Conservancy, North Carolina Chapter, is bringing together stakeholders from Roanoke Island to engage in discussions about coastal hazards in their communities.
Information will be collected and used to inform the Coastal Resilience mapping tool, developed by The Nature Conservancy, which will display key economic, social, and natural assets, as well as coastal risks and hazards.
Local communities can use this information to plan for how they can employ natural solutions such as constructing oyster reefs, and restoring coastal marshes to protect their communities, while maximizing nature’s benefits.
Getting local input is invaluable to the project’s success, and we encourage participation from community members.
This is the first in a series of workshops as part of the Coastal Resilience project in Northeast North Carolina, and the focus of this open house will be on the Roanoke Island communities.
The North Carolina Coastal Resilience Project Open House will be held on Tuesday, February 24, from 4 to 6:30pm at the Dare County Center, located at 950 Marshall C. Collins Drive in Manteo.
Refreshments will be served.
