Roanoke Island Festival Park Hosting Outer Banks Quilt Show
Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo reopens in March, kicking off their 2015 season with the annual Outer Banks Community Quilt Show.
An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free and this event is open to the public.
Antique and new quilts will be on display through March 21. The collection is drawn from quilt makers or quilt owners attached to the Eastern, NC region.
The exhibition features full-sized and mini fun quilts. Past shows have seen examples of quilts ranging in date from the 19th to the 21st century. Traditional patterns are used on many quilts. Viewers will witness a range of themes and techniques including quilting, embroidery and appliqué.
The show and reception are free and open to the public .
The exhibit will be on display inside the Event Room at Roanoke Island Festival Park March 7-21 (Mon-Fri- 9 a.m. to 4 p.m./ Sat. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m).
A complimentary Show and Tell, in the Indoor Theatre on March 17, has been set aside for quilters to display their current work, both competed and in progress, and to share the quilts’ stories.
