Outer Banks Mustang Music Festival Returns To Corolla [Concert Preview]

The Mustang Music Festival is happening today and tomorrow at Whalehead (formerly the Whalehead Club) in Historic Corolla, featuring two full days of live music and much more!

The Outer Banks-based Mustang Music Festival celebrates its fourth year with a move to a new and improved venue, layout, and lineup, along with an expansion of the Artisan Market, the Mustang Outreach Program, and the KidZone, plus the addition of a stand up paddle race on the Festival grounds. Onsite cultural installations from stage design to displays throughout the site will add to the beauty that is the Whalehead Club in Historic Corolla, the Festival’s new home this October 10-11th.

The lineup for Mustang Music Festival 4 includes southern swamp-rockers JJ Grey and Mofro and funky soulsters, The New Mastersound.  Also joining the bill are a blend of soul, indie, folk, funk and roots musicians from across the country including The Revivalists, Roadkill Ghost Choir, The London Souls, New Madrid, Jamie Kent, Seth Stainback & Roosterfoot, People’s Blues of Richmond, Zack Mexico, The Tills, Formula, Dewey Via,Category 5 and the 2014 Mustang Challenge winners, Soul House Revival. 

Kitty Hawk Kites will be presenting a KidZone chock full of kite-making and flying, toy demonstrations, face painting, chalk art, a rock climbing wall, a mechanical shark and more will provide fun for the whole family Friday, October 10th from 2pm-6pm and Saturday, October 11th from 12pm-6pm. OBX Island Childcare will be keeping the kiddos busy throughout the day and will be offering drop-in care.  Details will be available closer to the event.

For the craft show enthusiast and those in search of some early holiday deals, the Fest’s Artisan Market will boast over thirty artisans coming from all over Virginia and North Carolina with a special local’s section. This segment is specially curated to ensure unique, quality, multi-medium work from a myriad of creative vendors.

Also new to the event is a Craft Beer Village. While primary beer sponsor, SweetWater Brewing Co.’s, brand will be sold throughout the site, they will be creating a specialty brew that will be served alongside up to six other local breweries who will be sampling their favorite seasonals and specialty casks.
