Mustang Outreach Students Seeking Funds For Fall Music Program

Posted By on September 5, 2014

Students of the Community Music School worked tirelessly throughout the summer to master their instruments, songwriting techniques, and performance skills in preparation for a series of upcoming performances, including two sets at this year’s Mustang Music Festival.

Two of the program’s bands will take to the main stage along with several award-winning, world-class musicians while other student participants will perform an intimate set inside the Whalehead in Historic Corolla amidst the home’s history and prestige — surely something that many people can’t ever say they had the opportunity to experience.

The Mustang Outreach Program was founded to support Dare and Currituck County students in their plight to stay active and engaged in existing cultural arts programs, to provide these programs to children who may not otherwise be able to afford lessons, and to add in-school residencies and mentorships by local and regional musicians. It aims to inspire the local youth, especially middle and high school students, to stay involved in these extra-curricular activities as much as possible while offering a creative outlet that provides joy for them and so many others.

The program has garnered much support and experienced rapid momentum and is now turning to local businesses and community members for support in funding their fall camps in order to further prepare students for the myriad of live performances that are fast approaching. Any donation is appreciated and the organization has made it simple to donate through their website.

Guests may lend their support to the cause by visiting their website where you can volunteer your time, donate equipment, or grant any amount that you are able to commit through their simple online donation platform.

Local businesses with core values dedicated to supporting educational programming for area youth can also sponsor the program and receive benefits of their involvement year-round including event tickets, marketing and advertising and more. For a deeper glimpse at what this group is doing, you can catch their most recent PSA which was filmed by Baldwin Video during their Back to School Bash at the Outer Banks Brewing Station on August 17th.
