USA Today Names Waterside Theatre Among 10 Best Outdoor Concert Venues

Posted By on June 28, 2014

In yet another national nod to the Outer Banks, USA Today has named the historic Waterside Theatre, home of The Lost Colony, as one of the “10 Best Outdoor Concert Venues You Shouldn’t Miss”.

The site says, “The Outer Banks, the sand-swept playground off of the coast of North Carolina, is also home to America’s longest running dramatic musical. The Lost Colony is based on the history/mystery of the first settlers that landed on Roanoke Island before the founding of Jamestown. Performed in an open-air waterfront theater set at the edge of Roanoke Sound, the family-friendly stage is three times larger than most Broadway venues.”

In addition to nightly performances of The Lost Colony drama, Waterside Theatre will host a number of big name concerts this summer, including The Lovin’ Spoonful on July 20; Jars of Clay on August 3; and Marty Stuart on August 17.

You can see what other venues made the list here.
