‘The Little Prince’ Reigns at Roanoke Island Festival Park
The Little Prince is coming to the Outer Banks to delight audiences this summer as part of this year’s Performance Series at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo.
Based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince tells the story of a world-weary aviator whose malfunctioning plane strands him on the Sahara Desert.
When a mysterious, regal little boy appears and asks him to draw a sheep, the aviator is annoyed and distracted from his crisis— unaware that he is about to have a transforming experience.
By learning “what is essential is invisible to the eye,” the aviator comes to a new understanding of how to laugh, cry, and love again.
Now in its’ fifth year of touring to the Roanoke Island Island Festival Park Performance Series, the University of North Carolina Pembroke’s Summer Theatre Company includes five actors, including Allyson Ivey, Wayne Locklear, Ashley Nichol, Jessica Perry, and Stephen Shane.
UNC Pembroke will present The Little Present on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, July 16-18 at 10:30am each day in the Indoor Theatre at Roanoke Island Festival Park.
Tickets are $5 for ages 6 and up, and they may be purchased in advance at the Festival Park ticket office or on the day of the event.
Admission is free for ages five and under.
