Putt Putt For Polio Benefit Returns To Kill Devil Hills
The annual “Putt Putt for Polio” fundraiser returns to Professor Hacker’s Lost Treasure Golf in Kill Devil Hills this weekend!
The family event will be held on Saturday, April 26 (rain date April 27), at Professor Hacker’s Lost Treasure Golf, located at 1600 N Croatan Highway, in Kill Devil Hills, from 11am to 4pm.
SAGA Construction and Development is the Gold Doubloon Sponsorship and Charter Media is also a major contributor.
Capt’n Darby, an Outer Banks Irish Pirate, will be at the event to entertain the kids.
Tickets are $8 per person for the event with all proceeds going to Rotary Polio Plus.
Manteo, North Banks, First Flight, Kitty Hawk and Currituck Wild Goose Rotaries, all part of Rotary District 7720, are organizing the event with the support of other Rotary clubs within District 7720.
Hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages will be for sale.
Currituck High School Drama students will be on hand to entertain with pirate skits and roving pirate musicians will entertain the crowds.
Homer, the homerun horse with the Outer Banks Daredevils Baseball Club, will be on hand and team members will also be available to meet Putt Putt participates.
There are just three countries which have never stopped transmission of polio.
The three countries are Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan. They face a range of challenges such as insecurity, weak health systems and poor sanitation. Polio can spread from these ‘endemic’ countries to infect children in other countries with less-than-adequate vaccination.
