Kelly’s Nags Head St. Patrick’s Parade Highlights [Video / Photo Gallery]
The Outer Banks went green as the 2014 Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade marched on along the beach road in Nags Head yesterday, celebrating its 25th anniversary year with an estimated attendance of more 10,000 people coming out to watch about 1,800 of their friends, family, and neighbors participating in the parade.
This year’s parade, recognized as the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration in North Carolina, took place on Sunday, March 16 along the NC 12 beach road in Nags Head, and despite dire weather reports in the days just prior, the rain held off until the just after the parade had ended..
The official theme of this year’s parade was “Outer Banks Heroes”, and the honorary Grand Marshall was legendary Grave Digger monster truck driver Dennis Anderson (pictured above).
The South Nags Head White Trash Marching Kazoo Band and Beach Chair Drill Team won the first place award in the Best Overall category for the eighth time in the last nine years.
