Weekend Movie Update – Jan. 24, 2014: 'Frankenstein' Lives

The monster known as Frankenstein returns to theaters this week, while Bruce Dern goes to Nebraska and the Pioneer hosts the ultimate Grudge Match.

Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of January 24, 2014!

 Playing at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo for one week is the boxing comedy Grudge Match (rated PG13), starring Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, Rambo) and Robert DeNiro (Raging Bull, Goodfellas) as old rivals who take it to the ring one more time.

Leading this week’s new releases is the action fantasy I, Frankenstein (rated PG13), starring Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) as the titular monster created by man, opening Friday at R/C KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.

The only other new release playing locally this week is the award-winning drama Nebraska (rated R), about an old man played by Bruce Dern (The ‘Burbs) who goes on a life-changing journey when he believes that he won the lottery.
