Weekend Movie Update – Jan. 17, 2014: 'Devil's' Arrival
The Devil is reborn, Jack Ryan returns, Brendan Fraser gets squirrely, and Ice Cube goes on a Ride Along in theaters this week, while The Hobbit faces a fire-breathing dragon at The Pioneer.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of January 17, 2014!
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (rated PG13) starts Friday at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, playing for one week, taking us back to Middle-Earth for the second chapter in Bilbo’s (Martin Freeman) ongoing quest to help the warrior dwarfs reclaim their lost homeland.
Once again directed by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, King Kong), Freeman is reunited with Ian McKellen (X-Men) and Richard Armitage (Captain America) from last year’s Unexpected Journey, as well as Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean), reprising his role of the elf Legolas from the original Rings trilogy, and new addition Evangeline Lilly (Lost) as Tauriel, a character created just for the films and not based on Tolkien books.
