Weekend Movie Update – Dec. 18, 2013: 'Anchorman' Lives
Renowned news Anchroman Ron Burgundy is back with an all-star comedy lineup in theaters this week, while Batman and Lois Lane team up for the ultimate Hustle, Forrest Gump turns into Walt Disney, and The Pioneer catches fire at the 75th Annual Hunger Games.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of December 20, 2013!
Premiering this Friday at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo for a two-week run, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (rated PG13) picks up where the 2012 Hunger Games left off and then moves at a much faster pace, as young rebel Katniss Everdeen struggles to realize her destiny.
Best Actress Oscar Winner Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook, X-Men: FIrst Class) returns as Katniss, effectively owning the role from the first frame to the last, in a mythic story set in a future where the youth are forced to fight to the death in a series of televised games.

Headlining this week’s new releases is the comedy sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (rated PG13), which opens today (Wednesday) at R/C KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.
The great Will Ferrell (Elf) is back as top rated newsman Ron Burgundy, reuniting the awesome cast of the 2004 original film, including Paul Rudd (I Love You Man) and Steve Carell (The 40 Year Old Virgin), as well as the always hilarious Kristin Wiig (Bridesmaids).

Starting tomorrow (Thursday) with a preview screening at 7pm and officially opening on Friday is the period drama American Hustle (rated R), about a con man and his seductive partner who are forced to work for a wild FBI agent in the 1970s.
Starring Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Amy Adams (Man of Steel), Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), and Jeremy Renner (The Avengers), you can hustle your way through the theatrical trailer in the player below!
The only other new release playing locally this week is Saving Mr. Banks (rated PG13), starting Thursday night at 7pm and officially opening on Friday in Kill Devil Hills.
The drama tells the true story of how Disney’s classic Mary Poppins made it to the screen, with Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips) as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee) as Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers.
