Chillin’ for the Arts, the Dare Arts Council’s winter fundraiser is happening December 14, 2013 in Manteo.

“We are very excited about Chillin’ for the Arts. It is a phenomenal opportunity for the community to support the Arts while enjoying a night of live music, food and drinks with friends and neighbors,” said Executive Director of Dare County Arts Council, Chris Sawin.

The fundraiser will feature an auction of local artists’ work, packages from local businesses and restaurants, and plenty of other goodies to complete your holiday shopping.

“We had a great time last year, guests got to bid on some wonderful Christmas gifts and it all helps support the arts in Dare County,” said Kip Tabb, Arts Council President.

Captain Bartholomew Sands will be auctioned off again this year, returned for an encore performance by Russ Lay who placed the the winning bid at the 2012 Chillin’. Local artist Carol Willett created the life-sized pirate sculpture with the intention of using him to raise money for a local charity.

Captain Sands has been hiding out at the Dare County Arts Council gallery. Within days, maybe hours, he will set out on a journey around the Outer Banks to find “chill” buckos, hearties and scallywags to attend Chillin’ for the Arts.

Tickets for the event are $35 per person for Dare County Arts Council members and $40 for nonmembers. All proceeds will benefit Dare County Arts Council which is dedicated to bringing quality arts programming into the community for enrichment and opportunity.

Chillin’ for the Arts is happening on Saturday, December 14 from 6 to 10pm at 108 Budleigh in historic downtown Manteo.
