Weekend Movie Update – Nov. 8, 2013: 'Thor' Brings the Thunder
It’s Thorsday today, as the God of Thunder returns to theaters in a new chapter of superhero intergalactic adventure from Disney and Marvel Studios.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of November 8, 2013!
Thor: The Dark World (rated PG13) is the only new release playing locally this week, starting tonight with an 8pm preview screening and officially opening Friday in both 3D and traditional 2D formats at R/C KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.
The sequel reunites Chris Hemsworth (The Cabin in the Woods) as the titular hero with Natalie Portman (Black Swan) as his human love interest and the excellent Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers) as Thor’s evil brother Loki, all returning from the 2011 original film in the Asgardian franchise.
Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs) and Rene Russo (Lethal Weapon 3) are also back as Thor’s parents, Odin and Frigga, as is Kat Dennings (Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist), again supplying comic relief as the best friend of Portman’s Jane.
