Weekend Movie Update – Aug. 9, 2013: Meet ‘The Millers’
Pot smugglers, demigods, and talking airplanes battle the future in theaters this week, while Adam Sandler and Chris Rock play Grown Ups at The Pioneer.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of August 9, 2013!
Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore) reunites with the comedy all-star team of Chris Rock (New Jack City), David Spade (Joe Dirt), and Kevin James (Zookeeper) in the sequel Grown Ups 2 (rated PG13), playing at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.
Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

Headlining this week’s new releases is the comedy We’re the Millers (rated R), filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, opening today (Wednesday) at R/C KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.
Starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis, who previously worked together in Horrible Bosses, along with Emma Roberts (Scream 4), Ed Helms (The Hangover), and Nick Offerman (Parks and Rec), you can watch the latest red band (restricted) trailer in the player below, and then click here for more on We’re the Millers and look for our review next week!
Also opening today is the action fantasy Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters (rated PG), starring Logan Lerman (Stuck In Love) and Alexandra Daddario (Texas Chainsaw 3D) in the sequel to 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

The creators of Disney’s Cars brings you the new animated comedy Planes (rated PG), starting tomorrow (Thursday) with preview screenings at 7:10 and 9:20pm and opening on Friday in Kill Devil Hills.

Finally, the director of the awesome District 9 takes you to a twisted and poignant future in the epic Elysium (rated R), starring Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting) and Jodie Foster (Silence of the Lambs), where the rich live disease-free in the titular floating space station, while the poor suffer down on Earth.
Starting Thursday night at 10pm and opening on Friday, you can get a feel for what is sure to a mind-blowing cinematic experience in the extended trailer below!
