Dreamworks introduces the world’s first prehistoric “modern family” in The Croods (rated PG), opening at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.

Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

Voiced by Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas), Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern), Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man), and Catherine Keener (The 40 Year Old Virgin), you can watch the official trailer for the animated adventure using the player below!

The only new release playing locally this week is the epic science fiction adventure Oblivion (rated PG13), starring Tom Cruise (Top Gun, Interview with the Vampire), Morgan Freeman (The Dark Knight, Unforgiven), and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace).

The futuristic mystery from director Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) is about a veteran assigned to extract Earth’s remaining resources 60 years after an alien war all but destroyed the planet, who begins to question what he knows about his mission and himself.
