Weekend Movie Update – Nov. 23, 2012
The Guardians rise, Pi survives, and the Wolverines fight back in theaters this week, while Alex Cross investigates a new mystery at The Pioneer.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of Nov. 23, 2012!
Tyler Perry (Diary of a Mad Black Woman) takes over a role originally played by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls (filmed in North Carolina in 1997) and Along Came a Spider (2001), as the titular hero in the action thriller Alex Cross (rated PG13), opening at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.
Matthew Fox (ABC’s Lost), Edward Burns (The Incredible Hulk), and Rachel Nichols (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) also star.
Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

Officially kicking off the holiday movie season, Dreamworks’ new animated adventure Rise of the Guardians (rated PG) leads this week’s new releases, opening today (Wednesday) in both 3D and traditional 2D formats at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.
In the film, the immortal Guardians, including Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), and the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher), must protect the word’s children from an evil boogeyman named Pitch Black (Jude Law).

Director Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) is back with the epic Life of Pi (rated PG), also opening today in both 3D and 2D formats, about a teenage boy who must survive for months on a small lifeboat at sea with only a fearsome Bengal tiger as his companion.
Starring Suraj Sharma in the title role, you can get a taste of Pi in the official theatrical trailer using the player below!
Also new in theaters starting today, Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers) takes over a role originally played in 1984 by the late Patrick Swayze (Dirty Dancing) in the remake of Red Dawn (rated PG13), about students who band together to defend their town against a foreign invasion.
