Weekend Movie Update – Oct. 26, 2012
Victoria Justice goes trick-or-treating this week, while Gerard Butler goes surfing, Tom Hanks goes to the future, horror returns to Silent Hill, and Hotel Transylvania welcomes guests to The Pioneer.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of Oct. 26, 2012!
All of the classic Universal Studios monsters get an animated makeover in Hotel Transylvania (rated PG), opening at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.
The comedy stars the voice talents of Adam Sandler (The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore) as Dracula, Kevin James (Grown Ups) as Frankenstein’s Monster, David Spade (Joe Dirt) as the Invisible Man, Steve Buscemi (HBO’s Boardwalk Empire) as the Wolf-Man, Cee Lo Green (NBC’s The Voice) as the Mummy, and former Disney starlet Selena Gomez (Spring Breakers) as Dracula’s daughter.
Showtime for the comedy is 8pm nightly at The Pioneer.

Leading this week’s new releases is the comedy Fun Size (rated PG-13), about a high schooler who loses her little brother while trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
Starring Victoria Justice (The First Time), Jane Levy (Evil Dead), Johnny Knoxville (Jackass), and Chelsea Handler (E!’s Chelsea Lately), Fun Size opens Friday at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.

Also new this week is the horror sequel Silent Hill: Revelation (rated R), playing in both 2D and 3D formats in Kill Devil Hills.

The local surf community should love dropping in on Chasing Mavericks (rated PG), an inspirational true story featuring some insane big wave action.

The creators of The Matrix trilogy are back this week with the epic Cloud Atlas (rated R), a romantic adventure about reincarnation that spands centuries and features many of the actors playing multiple roles throughout film.
Starring Tom Hanks (Forest Gump) and Halle Berry (X-Men), the mind-bending movie was directed by Andy and Lana Wachowski with Tom Tykwer.

While not playing locally, director John Carpenter’s original 1978 masterpiece Halloween (rated R) is being re-released into limited theaters across the country (including Cinemark in Chesapeake, VA), starting today (Thursday) through Halloween night, starring Falls Church, VA native Nancy Kyes.
