The 1st Annual Outer Banks Bluegrass Festival exceeded all expectations, and organizers tell us that next year’s event has already been scheduled and will be even bigger and better.

“I believe the event exceeded everyone’s expectations,” festival promoter Cory Hemilright told OBXentertainment.com yesterday. “Total tickets sold between Friday, Saturday and Sunday were over 7,000.”

The innaugural concert took place Friday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 7 at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo, with Saturday completely selling out, as headliners Rhonda Vincent and Doyle Lawson picked away into the night.

The 2nd Annual Outer Banks Bluegrass Festival is set for Oct. 4-6, 2013, and Hemilright tells us that the schedule of entertainers is already coming together.

“We have already started building next years lineup,” he said, “which will include a second dose of Rhonda Vincent and Doyle Lawson by popular demand. But also look out for award winning bands such as Dailey & Vincent, the Grascals, and Russel Moore & IIIrd Time Out.

“The completed schedule for next year will be posted on BluegrassIsland.com within the upcoming weeks.”
