Weekend Movie Update – Oct. 5, 2012
Tim Burton gives the family something to scream about, while a Pitch Perfect new musical arrives, Liam Neeson gets Taken again, and The Words get Bradley Cooper in trouble at The Pioneer.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of Oct. 5, 2012!
The romantic drama The Words (rated PG13) opens at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.
Starring Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Zoe Saldana (Avatar), and Olivia Wilde (Tron Legacy), the tense film centers on a successful writer accused of plagiarism at the very height of his career.
Showtime for the comedy is 8pm nightly at The Pioneer.

Headlining this week’s new releases, director Tim Burton (Batman, Dark Shadows) returns to his Disney animation roots with a full length update of his first ever animated short, Frankenweenie (rated PG), an homage to Mary Shelley’s classic monster tale, opening this Friday at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.
The family friendly horror adventure stars the voice talents of Charlie Tahan (I Am Legend) and a number of Burton regulars including Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands), Martin Landau (Ed Wood), Catherine O’Hara (The Nightmare Before Christmas), Martin Short (Mars Attacks!), and Christopher Lee (Sleepy Hollow, Horror of Dracula).

Also new in theaters this week, Liam Neeson (Batman Begins, Star Wars: Episode I) returns for more extreme self defense in the action sequel Taken 2 (rated PG13), as a father fighting to save his family from various bad guys.
Co-starring Famke Janssen (X-Men, Goldeneye) and Maggie Grace (ABC’s Lost), you can get a taste of Neeson’s beatings to come in the player below!
Finally, for comedy lovers this week brings the new musical Pitch Perfect (rated PG13), featuring the hilarious Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids), along with Anna Kendrick (Twilight), Brittany Snow (Hairspray), and Anna Camp (The Help) as an all-girl college singing group determined to take on the boys.
