Horror Film Festival and Zombies to Invade Outer Banks [UPDATED]
[UPDATED 10/26/12: Due to inclement weather the children’s fair and zombie beach walk scheduled for Saturday have been cancelled. All other events will go on as planned.]
Halloween on the Outer Banks will never be the same after the first ever OBX Horror Film Festival and Zombie Walk takes over Kill Devil Hills this October.
OBX Entertainment is proud to announce our official sponsorship of this spirited new event, proceeds from which will fund an original zombie movie to be filmed on the Outer Banks this fall!
Event organizer Thomas Kerr told us that his ultimate goal is to eventually build an actual studio in Dare County, which he estimates would employee approximately 30 to 40 people in producing locally filmed movie, television, and internet-based projects.
In addition, OBX Entertainment can exclusively reveal that Kerr will begin filming his original horror film Dead Tide on the Outer Banks in mid-November.
You can watch the first official teaser for OBX Horror Fest 2012 in the player below!
Film submissions are currently being accepted for consideration to be included in the innaugural Outer Banks Horror Film Festival at OBXHorrorFest.com.
The top three feature-length films and the top three short films submitted will be screened during the festival, with one winner from both categories to receive a $100 cash prize from the festival judges. Awards will also be presented for the audience’s favorite films in both categories.
The spooky two-day event will kick off with a “zombie mixer” on Friday night, Oct. 26, followed by the film festival, zombie walk, and a “zombie ball” on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Ramada Inn in Kill Devil Hills.
Tickets are $10 for the mixer, $15 for the film festival, $5 for the walk, and $10 for the ball, or $40 for the whole package, and can be purchased now by emailing [email protected].
To help promote the festival, anyone interested in dressing up like a zombie is invited to the Outer Banks Fishing Pier on Friday, Sept. 28 at 6pm to appear in a commercial to be filmed on the beach. The promo spot will be released online and possibly on local Channel 12.
Stay tuned to OBXentertainment.com in the coming weeks for lots more of our extensive coverage of this killer event!
