Weekend Movie Update – August 3, 2012
Wimpy kids, kids in love, and a Total sci-fi reboot lead this week’s new releases, while Spider-Man swings into The Pioneer.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of August 3, 2012!
The Sony Pictures reboot The Amazing Spider-Man (rated PG13) opens at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.
As Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) takes over the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, the film also stars Emma Stone (Zombieland, The Help), Dennis Leary (Rescue Me), Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now), Sally Field (Forrest Gump), and Rhys Ifans (The Five-Year Engagement) as the mutated villain The Lizard.
Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

Headlining this week’s new releases is director Len Wiseman’s (Underworld) remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi classic Total Recall (rated PG13), opening Friday at Hatteras Movies 4 in Avon.
The remake features Colin Farrell (Alexander, The New World) taking over for Schwarzenegger, while Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) steps into the role originally played by Sharon Stone.

Also new this week, the comedy Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (rated PG) opens Friday at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills and Hatteras Movies 4 in Avon.

Director Wes Anderson’s (The Royal Tenenbaums) latest comedy drama also opens this week in Kill Devil Hills, featuring an all-star cast lead by Bill Murray (Ghostbusters) and Bruce Willis (Die Hard) in a unique story about two kids in love.
