ECU Brings 'Our Town' to Festival Park
This week, the Roanoke Island Festival Park 2012 Performance Series presents East Carolina University’s production of the classic Our Town.
The play will run for three nights – starting Tuesday, June 26 through Thursday, June 28 – in the Indoor Theatre at Festival Park in Manteo.
Showtime is 7pm each night.

First produced in 1938, the Pulitzer-Prize winning play has become an American stage treasure and is Thornton Wilder’s most renowned and frequently performed play. Tickets are $10 adults and 6-12 years old- $5. 5 and under are free. They may be purchased in advance at theVisitorsCenteror the night of the event.
Set at the turn of the 20th century, the play reveals the ordinary lives of the people in the small town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire.
The noted playwright Edward Albee wrote of the production, “It is probably the finest play ever written by an American.” Director John Shearin adds “with the high responsibility implied by such an accolade, the ECU production will strive to delve into the great heart of this rich play and bring its treasures to life in a contemporary setting, remaining steadfastly true to the theatrical values expressed by the playwright as well as to the deep human values of the characters and text”.
