NC's Mary Elizabeth Winstead Slays in 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'
Rocky Mount, North Carolina native Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Mary Todd Lincoln in the new action horror epic Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter – opening in theaters this weekend.
The R-rated adaptation of author Seth Grahame-Smith’s best selling novel that reimagines the 16th American President as a slayer of bloodsuckers is produced by Tim Burton (Batman, Dark Shadows) and directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted).
The film stars Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers) as one seriously badass Honest Abe, along with Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Death Proof) as the woman by his side.
Most recently, Winstead battled The Thing in last year’s remake of the John Carpenter classic and helped defeat her own evil ex-boyfriends as Romona Flowers in 2010’s big screen adaptation of the popular comic book Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
In addition to captivating genre fans as the forgotten cheerleader in director Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 Grindhouse exploitation feature Death Proof, Winstead has also starred in Live Free or Die Hard, Black Christmas, Final Destination 3, Sky High, and The Ring Two.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opens in theaters this Friday, June 22.
