Weekend Movie Update – June 15, 2012
Rock cranks up the 1980s and Adam Sandler gives dads a Father’s Day gift, while Rihanna launches Battleship at the Pioneer.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of June 15, 2012!
The big screen adaptation of the popular board game Battleship (rated PG13) attacks the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.
The fantasy adventure stars Oscar nominee Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List) and pop music superstar Rihanna, making her acting debut.

The glossy musical Rock of Ages (rated PG13) headlines this week’s new releases starting Friday at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills and Hatteras Movies 4 in Avon.
The all star cast includes Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, and Julianne Hough (soon to be filming Safe Haven in NC).

Also new this week, the comedy dream team of SNL standouts of Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison) and Andy Samberg (Hot Rod, I Love You Man) join forces in That’s My Boy (rated R).
Sandler and Samberg play an estranged father and son who are reunited just prior the son’s (Samberg) wedding day.

The third new release showing locally this week is the unique comedy The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (rated PG13).
The film is about British retirees who travel to India to take up residence in what they believe is a newly restored hotel. Less luxurious than its advertisements, the Marigold Hotel nevertheless slowly begins to charm in unexpected ways.
