A Double Dose of NC's Brooklyn Decker Hits Theaters
Supermodel turned actress Brooklyn Decker was born in Ohio, but like the Wright brothers, she found her destiny in North Carolina.
The former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covergirl was discovered by a talent scout in a Charlotte mall when she was a teenager.
This week, she has two high profile Hollywood releases hitting theaters on the same day – the all-star comedy What to Expect When You’re Expecting and the big-budget action epic Battleship.
Decker was born in Kettering, Ohio in 1987, but her family soon relocated to Matthews, NC, where she was eventually discovered while shopping in nearby Charlotte. Her first modeling gig was for a prom dress maker, and rapid success followed.
She first appeared in the prestigious SI Swimsuit Issue in 2006, and memorably graced the cover in 2010 (see below).
Brooklyn made her big screen debut in last year’s Just Go With It with Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore) and Jennifer Aniston (Office Space).
Expecting is an adaptation of the popular instruction manual for expecting parents.
It co-stars Cameron Diaz (There’s Something About Mary), Jennifer Lopez (Out of Sight), and Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), and you can check out a trailer using the player below!
Battleship is actually based on the board game of the same name, though the game never featured robot aliens attacking Earth. The tititular ships at sea thankfully remain, according to the trailer below.
The fantasy adventure extravaganza also stars Oscar nominee Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List) and pop music superstar Rihanna, making her acting debut.
Both films open this Friday, May 18th.
